Sync your Windows Phone
When it comes to syncing your stuff—media, documents, contacts and calendar, etc.—between your Windows Phone and your PC, there are lots of ways to do it. We'll walk you through your options.
Notes
- If you have Windows 10 on your PC, use the built-in Phone Companion app to learn how to automatically get the things you love from your PC to your phone or tablet. Search for "Phone Companion" in the search box on your PC's taskbar to open it. Learn more about Phone Companion. (Uninstalled the app? Get it here.)
- This topic is about Windows Phone 8.1. If your phone is running Windows Phone 8, some options and icons may look a little different and some features may not be available. Check to see which software version you have and find out if an update is available.

sync contacts and calendar
There are two ways to sync your Microsoft Office Outlook contacts and calendar information to your Windows Phone. The right method for you depends on whether or not you use Outlook with Microsoft Exchange. (Exchange is what many organizations use to provide email, calendars, tasks, and contacts.)
- If you use Outlook with Exchange (this is typically the case if you use Outlook at work), setting up contact and calendar syncing is straightforward. Go to Settings Settings Icon > Email + accounts > Add an account to add the account, then tap the account in the Email + accounts list and change the sync settings.
- If you use Outlook without Exchange (this is typically the case if you use Outlook at home), setting up contact and calendar syncing takes a few more steps. To learn how, see Sync your Outlook contacts to Windows Phone.
